La democracia hegemónica, ¿hegemonía de la democracia?

El artículo parte de la premisa de que la noción específica del concepto de democracia afianzada a lo largo de este siglo, debe ser explicada de manera histórica para evidenciar el sentido político y cultural de la hegemonía, y ello sobre todo por el derrumbe del mundo socialista. Debido a que los fenómenos sociales específicos del mundo moderno atenían contra el espíritu de la justicia, la libertad y la igualdad que pareciera normarlos, es necesario pensar en las distintas acepciones que el concepto de la democracia pueda tener.
The starting point is the idea that, throughout the century about to end, a specific notion of democracy gained ground which requires a historical explanation to clarify the political and cultural connotations implied in its hegemony, strengthened and underscored by the downfall of the socialist world. Thus, diverse meanings of democracy are possible given the fact that specific social phenomena, pertaining to the modem world, clash with the spirit of justice, freedom, and equality that appear to act as its basic parameters.
