The German Digital Library is participating with a lecture, is supporting the congress as a partner in organizing it, and is presenting itself at the accompanying trade exhibition.
In its lecture on ancestry, the German Digital Library is presenting the possibilities that its subportals Archivportal-D and the Deutsches Zeitungsportal offer for genealogical research. With around 2,500 registered archives and around 32 million items of object information, the archive portal offers genealogists a comprehensive directory of German archives of various types as well as a wide range of material for searching for ancestors: address books, birth registers, marriage certificates and even university personnel files. The German Newspaper Portal makes historical newspapers accessible via a central full-text search. Over 23 million newspaper pages can be searched for surnames or places of birth, for example.
