Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and Saarländischer Museumsverband e.V., in cooperation with the state government of Saarland, are inviting you on the 17th of February 2017 to an information day in the Ministry of Education and Culture in Saarbrücken.

The information day is meant to bring into focus the purpose and current state of Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek as well as the status quo of the digitalization of the cultural heritage in Saarland. The digitalization team of Saarländischer Museumsverband will be presenting itself and its work on the spot, while Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek will be presenting itself as a possible co-operation partner to institutions involved in various cultural fields.

Frank Frischmuth, Manager of Finances, Law and Communication says: “We  are happy to be a guest in Saarbrücken and to present the offerings and the development status of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. It is the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s task to present and provide access to the digitally available cultural heritage of all cultural sectors across the whole of its range. For this reason we are approaching all public cultural and knowledge institutions to become our partners.”

Participants are to include Ulrich Commerçon, the Saarland’s minister for education and culture and Jürgen Lennartz, head of the Saarland state chancellery and plenipotentiary to the federal government, and Stephan Weszkalnys, former ministerial advisor and deputy president of Saarländischer Museumsverband.

Frank Frischmuth (manager of finances, law and communication at Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek) is to speak about Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s assigned role for safeguarding the cultural heritage and making it accessible. Rainer Raber (managing director of Saarländischer Museumsverband e.V. and chairman of the supervisory board of digiCULT-Verbund) will be talking together with Frauke Rehder (managing director of digiCULT-Verbund) about the status quo of digitalization in the Saarland and give an account of plans for the future.
A live presentation of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek – its competence network, its contents and functionalities as well as virtual exhibitions – will be rounding the morning off.

In the afternoon, participants will be able to get advice and detailed information. They will be able to look over the shoulders of the digital information team of Saarländischer Museumsverband and get an impression of their work on the spot. All people working for departments of Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek – the archive, library, museum, Photo Mediatheque, Sound Mediatheque and Film Mediatheque as well as the service centre and office of Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek will be happy to offer detailed information and advice.
