Media – People – Markets: The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek at the 106th German Librarians’ Day
By Wiebke Hauschildt (Online Editor)
The Deutsche Bibliothekartag (German Librarians’ Day) has taken place annually since 1900, the very first time in Marburg as a national advanced training course for librarians of scientific libraries. This year’s Bibliothekartag is being held in Frankfurt am Main from 30.5-2.6.17, as it was the last time in 1998 – the motto at that time being “only that which changes remains”. This sentence could also apply to the 106th Bibliothekartag: it is about the changes in media, people and markets.
The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek is also present on site this year with a stand, consultation hours and lectures. The first consultation hour on Wednesday, 31.5. is devoted to the topic “The way into the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek” – staff members of the service centre will answer questions on registration, ingest and data formats, provide information about the cooperation agreement and other requirements. The second consultation hour on Thursday, 1.6. will present the further development project DDB-2017, which includes new software architecture as well as various new features and which should go online in autumn this year.
In addition to the stand and the consultation hours, two lectures round off the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s programme: Stephan Bartholmei, responsible for Product Development at the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, is giving a lecture on “The virtualisation of holdings -a prospering platform with a cluster core - the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and its new architecture”. The second lecture will be given by Ellen Euler, Deputy Manager Finance, Law, Communication at the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, on the topic “Licensing models of research data – theory and practice”.
